Butcher's Field

The field was purchased in 2002 by Westham Parish Council to commemorate the Queens Golden Jubilee.

The field is at the entry and exit part of Westham Parish and has recently been used to graze sheep.

At the far end of the field is a commemorative stone to celebrate the life of the late John Vincent who was a County Councillor for the Pevensey and Westham division.

Because of the proximity to Pevensey Castle permission has been given to carry out a limited number of small ‘archaeological digs’ in the field. This has produced some interesting finds and when the weather permits future ‘digs’ will take place.
